Autodesk® CFD 2019 contains several new features and functional updates designed to improve the solving capabilities, simulation fidelity, and the overall user experience.
Scalable Solver
The scalable solver improvements have continued to bring more capabilities and improved performance. The scalable solver now supports:
- PCB materials
- Surface parts
- Solar walls
- Solar windows
- Smoke visibility analyses
- Thermal comfort analyses
- LMA
The Scalable solver has matching local and cloud performance, though individual performance is limited to machine specifications.
Wall Calculator Improvements
Thermal calculations should provide improved energy balance using the wall calculator. The calculations are now using residuals at surface nodes. To revert to the old method turn off the resid_heat_flux_calc flag.
New Result Extraction Tool, Cut Regions
To help grab results from a specific area, the Cut Regions tool was created. This tool allows you to create a circular or rectangular region that gives the average results of the region. Cut Regions are useful reviewing AEC models, but are still applicable to other industries, and analysis types.
Improved Graphical Performance
Updated graphics libraries show up to 50% graphical performance improvements (model dependent).
Improved Licensing
Generating a Premium or Ultimate CFD license covers both the solver and the UI. If you have a subscription seat to Autodesk® CFD Premium, the cloud solver has motion capabilities.
Fusion 360 CAD Integration
We have added the ability to work with geometry from Fusion 360. Fusion 360 has CAD, CAM, and Simulation capabilities. The model simplification tools available in SimStudio Tools are available in Fusion 360. Improvements are also available in the Replace with Primitives command, sizing can be done by snapping to a face or vertex.
Licensing and Install for Fusion 360
Fusion 360 does not use standard networking licenses it is a cloud product that validates user subscription.
- If you have a subscription seat to Autodesk® CFD, a single user Autodesk® Fusion 360 subscription was added to your account. This subscription must be assigned to your username by the contract manager in the accounts portal.
