Draw/Edit Rail Connection Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to specify crossover properties such as type, direction, location, and labels.

With parameters

Main Alignment

Specifies the rail source alignment from which the crossover is placed.

Second Alignment

Specifies the rail destination alignment to which the crossover is placed.

Station (m)

Specifies a station on the main alignment from which the crossover is drawn.

Direction

Specifies the direction of the crossover in relation to the stationing of the specified alignment. Select Forward or Backward.

Rail Connection Alignment Name

Specifies the name of the crossover alignment.

Connection Alignment Settings

Place

Click the button to open the Alignment Settings dialog box. In this dialog box, you specify Site, Alignment Style, Alignment Label Set, and the Alignment Layer for the connection alignment.

Turnout 1

Type

Specifies which type of turnout will be placed along the main alignment of the crossover. Select Straight-Line Switch or Arc Switch.

Name

Specifies the name of the rail type of Turnout 1 as defined in the Turnout Catalog. This is typically the curve radius, frog ratio, and rail mass of the turnout. For example, 190-1:9 49.

Insertion Point

Specifies the point along Turnout 1 that is placed at the specified station location. Select Beginning (1), Middle (2), or End (3).

Turnout 2

Type

Specifies which type of turnout will be placed along the second alignment of the crossover. Select Straight-Line Switch or Arc Switch.

Name

Specifies the name of the rail type of Turnout 2 as defined in the Turnout Catalog. This is typically the curve radius, frog ratio, and rail mass of the turnout. For example, 190-1:9 49.

Connection Type

Specifies one of the two potential crossover types between the two alignments. Select Shortest Possible or Regular.

The Shortest Possible connection is composed from the radius extended from the turnout with the biggest radius to the tangent section connected to the second turnout.

The Regular connection is composed by specifying the tangent – curve – tangent geometry (m1 – R – m2) between the two turnouts.

Turnout Settings

In the Turnout 1 and Turnout 2 section of the dialog box, you can adjust the turnout specific settings for the crossover. Click the button to open the Turnout Settings dialog box.

Description

Specifies an optional description for the turnout. The turnout name is used by default.

Compose Switch Label

Specifies the label for the turnout. By default, the middle two fields specify the rail mass and type with empty prefix and suffix fields. The turnout label is placed in the drawing and as representation in turnout tables.

Turnout Sign Direction

Specifies the location of the turnout symbol and the direction of the hatch fill in relation to the stationing of the specified alignment. Select Left – Forward, Left – Backward, Right – Backward, or Right – Backward.

Clearance Point

Specifies the distance of the clearance point from the insertion point of the turnout.

Turnout Index

Specifies a unique alphanumeric identification for the turnout. This is placed as a label near the turnout sign.

Settings

Click Settings to change label appearance settings for the crossover. From the Variable Settings dialog box, you can enable the visibility and change the colors of the following turnout label elements: Circles, Turnout label, Hatch, GM mark, Circle at the end of s, Turnout text label, and the Serial number.
