Component Derive

This command provides a streamlined Derive Component workflow within an existing assembly.

To create a derived component

1. On the ribbon, click Assemble tab Productivity panel Component Derive .
2. Click to select the component to derive into a new component.
3. In the Create Part or Create Assembly dialog box, enter a name for the new component.
4. Click Save to create the new component and close the dialog box.

   You are placed into a new file that was derived from the selected file, and y can edit the newly created derived component.

This command generates the derived part or assembly using default options, except for assembly representations: the command uses the active design view of the base component, and positional and level of detail representations in the derivation.
