Enable Internet Connectivity

Features of Inventor that enable online collaboration or updates from Autodesk can be disabled when creating a deployment. Disabling access allows you to keep control of connected functionality.

Note: The Enable Internet Connectivity settings only control access to the specific features listed below. These settings do not control online access from within Inventor to other online features such as licensing, your autodesk account, Team Web, CER, CIP/DAP, the online help, samples, and other online features.

Products are updated through the Autodesk Desktop App, which notifies users when updates are available. See To Specify Settings for the Autodesk Desktop App.

To Disable Online Collaboration and Autodesk Updates from within Inventor

  1. On the Autodesk Inventor Installer Create Deployment Configure page, click the triangle next to Click to open and configure.
  2. Scroll down to Enable Internet Connectivity. By default, access to these features is enabled.
    • Deselect the Enable design collaboration to block access to the following features within Inventor:
      • Downloading new Guided Tutorials, creating, publishing and sharing your own Guided Tutorials.
      • Shared Views.
Important: To modify this option, you must recreate the deployment, ensure the Enable design collaboration checkbox is selected, and then redeploy.
    • Deselect Enable updates from Autodesk App Manager to block access to Autodesk App Store website.
    • Autodesk App Store website
Note: The Autodesk App Store is an online resource where you can browse and purchase Apps (including product-specific content such as blocks, models, training materials, and eBooks) – and is available to several Autodesk Products. You can also prevent users from accessing the Autodesk App Store website by restricting access to http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/ in your company’s browser. Click here to learn more about Autodesk App Manager.
    • Important: To modify your access to the Autodesk App Store, you must recreate the deployment, ensure the Enable update and communication channels from Autodesk checkbox is selected, and then redeploy. If you want access to the Autodesk App Store, and not to Communication Center, you must manage access to Communication Center using the CAD Manager Tool.
