Working with part export

Save individual parts as files separate from the FABBPROJECT

You can export parts as slice files or 3D triangle mesh files. When you export only one file, you only need to enter a target file name, and there is no need to adjust settings. When you export multiple files, a dialog box opens so you can adjust settings. For slice files, these settings are different from those for other export formats.

To export one part

  1. Select the part you want to export.
  2. Click File > Export Part and select a file format from the list that opens.
  3. Enter a file name and target folder in the Export dialog box, and click OK.

To export multiple parts as slice files

  1. Select all the parts you want to export.
  2. Click File > Export Part > As Slice.

The Export Slices dialog box opens.

  3. Adjust slice export settings and click OK.

Tip: These are the same settings used for exporting slices. See Export and Save Slices.

To export multiple parts as 3D triangle mesh files

  1. Select the parts you want to export.
  2. Click File > Export Part, and select the format you want to export to, such as SMF, STL, and so on (except as Slice).

The Export Parts dialog box opens.

  3. Adjust export settings for the parts.
  4. Enter a name and folder for your file and click OK.

To export parts as parametric CAD file

Note: Export to CAD formats is available only for those parts that were loaded as CAD file and still retain their parametric data.
  1. In Netfabb, select the parts you want to export.
  2. Click File > Export Part > as parametric model file (SAT, STEP, IGES), and select the CAD format you want to export to, SAT, STEP, or IGES.

The Export Parts dialog box opens.

  3. Adjust export settings for the parts.
  4. Enter a name and folder for your file and click OK.
Note: If this export option is grayed out, it is not a parametric part and you cannot export it to SAT, STEP, or IGES. You must convert it to a parametric part first.
