If the administrative summary for a specific vault indicates that defragmentation is recommended, the database can be defragmented using the server console.
Note: Access to the vault database is blocked during this task. Data management clients cannot access the database until the task is completed.
- Select a vault from the Vaults folder. The administrative summary for the vault indicates if defragmentation is recommended.
- Select Actions
Optimize Database. Before performing any defragmentation operation, all the indexes should be analyzed properly.
- Click Analyze to perform a scan on the database and report the number of fragmentations.
- Click Optimize to defragment the database. Defragmentation actually rebuilds or reorganizes the indexes to match the logical ordering of data.
- You are prompted to confirm locking the vault to prevent users from accessing it during the operation. Click Yes.
- A message is displayed indicating that the defragmentation completed successfully. Click OK.
