To Create a New Layer That is Visible in Only One Viewport

  1. Click a layout tab.
  2. Double-click within a layout viewport to make it current.
  3. Create a layer.
    1. In the Layer Properties Manager, click New Layer.
    2. Enter a new layer name by typing over the highlighted layer name.
      • Layer names can be up to 255 characters long (double-byte or alphanumeric), and include letters, numbers, spaces, and several special characters.
      • Layer names cannot include the following characters: < > / \ “ : ; ? * | = ‘
  4. Right-click the new layer and choose VP Freeze Layer > In All Viewports Except Current.
  5. In the New VP Freeze column, click the icon to change the layer's state so the layer is frozen in any new viewport created.
