Import binary cross section data from a CAiCE EAR file.
An EAR file is associated with a single alignment. When an EAR file is selected for import, Autodesk Civil 3D will look for the appropriate alignment in the drawing. If multiple alignments are present, but none match the name contained in the EAR file, then you must either select the appropriate alignment or cancel the command.
To import cross section data from an EAR file
- In Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand Miscellaneous Utilities
CAiCE Translator. Double-click Import CAiCE Cross Sections (*.EAR).
- In the Import Other Formats dialog box, navigate to the CAiCE project folder. Select the desired file. Click Open.
- Select the alignment with which to associate the EAR file:
- Select the alignment in the drawing, or
- press Enter, and then select the alignment from a list.
- Specify whether to create sample lines along the alignment.
- If you created sample lines in the previous step, specify whether to create section views.
- If you created section views in the previous step, pan to an empty area in the drawing. Click the empty area to draw the section views.
The objects are imported into the drawing, and are displayed in Toolspace on the Prospector tab.
