Safe Area dialog (PartMaker)

Use the Safe Area dialog to define a safe area for machining the surface group. For example, you may want to keep rapid moves within the travel limits of the machine.

To display this dialog, click Safe Area on the Surface Group Parameters dialog.The settings available on this dialog depend on whether you are creating a 3-axis or a multi-axis toolpath:

• Safe Area dialog — 3-axis ASM toolpath.

  When you are using a machining function that:

  • does not support multi-axis machining, PartMaker creates a 3-axis toolpath.
  • does support multi-axis machining, you can choose whether to create a 3-axis or a multi-axis toolpath using the Toolpath Type setting on the Surface Group Parameters dialog.
• Safe Area dialog — Multi-axis toolpath.

  When using a multi-axis toolpath in ASM, 4Axis Simultaneous or 5-Axis Simultaneous is selected as the Toolpath Type on the Surface Group Parameters dialog.
