Zones

Select the Zones tab on the Diagrams (FEM) dialog to change the transformation method for theoretical (required) area into zones in which real (provided) reinforcement will be generated.

Range of each of the zones may be changed. The reinforcement area factor that refers to the maximum area of theoretical (required) reinforcement in a given zone, may be changed, too. Click Apply when changes are complete.

The Coordinates field presents coordinates of the corners of a rectangular zone (first the bottom left and then the top right corner). The reference point for calculation of these coordinates is the bottom left corner of a deep beam of the first deep-beam span from the left.

The method of zone generation depends on the selected code for the provided reinforcement.

For calculations according to the French code BAEL, the required reinforcement is transformed into the main bottom, main top, distributed bottom, distributed top, and distributed vertical zones. In the case of high deep beams, the zone of top distributed reinforcement is additionally split into two parts. If openings have been defined in a deep beam, then each will create the top, main bottom, distributed bottom and top, and suspended zones of opening reinforcement.

Calculations according to the Polish PN code have the possibility of generating near-support zones and zones surrounding the places where concentrated loads are applied. Such an approach corresponds to the constructional requirements recommended in Polish studies, and additionally allows reinforcement of areas where concentration of loads occurs. This happens without excessive reinforcement in the remaining areas of a structure. Near-support vertical zones, near-support horizontal zones, and zones where loads are applied are also generated.
