Errors and Warnings - Modules of RC Element Design

During calculations of provided (real) reinforcement in RC modules, messages informing you about the calculation run may display. The messages depend on a code and a type of an RC structure element being designed.

Messages are grouped by individual elements of RC structures

Reinforcement modification not being directly connected with the section capacity requirements. They have no effect on calculation results.

Cover does not satisfy fire rating conditions

Beam width does not satisfy fire rating conditions

Cover does not satisfy requirements for the given environment

Cross-section dimensions are too small due to the seismic requirements

Verification of geometry due to: fire rating, environment class or seismic reiquirements.

Hook length of the transversal reinforcement is too small

Problems with reinforcement arrangement

Columns

Reinforcement percentage exceeds # value #

Minimum column section dimension < # value #

Slenderness lambda exceeds # value #

No bars of diameter > # value # on the longitudinal reinforcement list

No bars of diameter > # value # on the lateral reinforcement list

Exceeding values allowed by the code

Unsatisfactory load capacity of the column

Column design (geometry, material, etc.) defined by the user is impossible.

Slender column (bi-axial bending): a detailed analysis is necessary

Column with bi-axial bending: it has been designed as a short one

Effects that may affect the calculation result

Seismic disposition: using bars with hooks is not allowed!

Due to seismic requirements, incorrect definition of reinforcement anchorage.

Note: Tension force in the column!

Tension force acting in a column. Has no effect on the calculation results.

Spread Footings

In the module of spread footing design, the following group of errors may be distinguished:

  1. Errors warning that the code conditions of geometrical design have not been satisfied. There is no possibility to fulfill the following conditions:
    • soil capacity
    • foundation uplift in ULS (SLS, ALS)
    • foundation sliding
    • foundation rotation about axis X (Y)
    • foundation punching
    • foundation shear
    • foundation lifting
    • average foundation settlement
    • difference in foundation settlements
  2. Errors about the arrangement of reinforcement resulting from geometry or code requirements of distribution:
    • collision of the pier with top reinforcement of the footing, Rp > h2
    • lack of possibility to distribute reinforcement in the footing
    • necessity to provide top reinforcement in the footing
    • insufficient horizontal reinforcement of the pier
    • exceeded maximum reinforcement ratio in the pier.
