General

Select the General tab on the Reinforcement Pattern dialog to define general parameters related to deep beam reinforcement.

These parameters include the following.

Wire fabrics generates reinforcement with wire fabrics, beginning with the upper level of the bottom main reinforcement layer. During calculations of reinforcement area, there is no interaction between the main reinforcement and the reinforcement with wire fabrics.

Wire fabric + bars first adjusts the reinforcement with wire fabrics, and then, on the basis of the calculated area of wire fabrics belonging to the main reinforcement, it selects an appropriate amount and the diameter of main reinforcement bars. The wire fabric stretches in this case along the entire height of the designed deep beam. Selecting the Bars option excludes the application of wire fabrics. In their place, instead of the wire fabric, reinforcement consisting of single bars is generated.

In distributed reinforcement consisting of wire fabric or wire fabric and bars, the Allowable 2 different panels option is activated. When the option is deselected, you can obtain the effect of reinforcing a deep beam with two different types of wire fabric, such as P 636R and P 503R.

In distributed reinforcement with wire fabrics or wire fabrics and bars, the Criteria button is enabled which opens the Criteria dialog.

In the Main reinforcement field, you can define the maximum and minimum number of columns of deep beam reinforcement. It is possible to define the range (such as Nmin = 2; Nmax = 5) or determine a definite number of reinforcement columns in the deep beam by indicating that Nmin = Nmax. When defining a range, the optimum number of columns of reinforcement with respect to all the spans of the deep beam will adjust.

Additionally, you can define the following parameters for the main reinforcement.

Click Anchors to define the manner of anchoring reinforcement that reaches the supports. Anchoring may differ, depending on the support type. The outmost and intermediate supports as well as those on the left and on the right side of the span in question are differentiated. The Auto (Automatic) option adjusts the length of the bar within a support so that the conditions of anchoring the reinforcement are met. The remaining anchoring options up to face, up to axis, and elongated (entering into the support) impose the bar ending within the support. For example, bars are cut by a value related to the cover. The anchoring option refers not only to the main span reinforcement, but also to all other types of reinforcement that reaches structure supports.
