Pipe Run Grips in Profile View

Use grips to manually edit pipe runs in profile view.

In the following descriptions, remember that adjusting pipe runs with grips does not prevent you from editing the angle of a pipe beyond the allowable deflection. Pipes which have exceeded the allowable deflection can be detected by running the Run Design Check command.

The grips described in the following sections are highlighted in each illustration in red.

Intersection point: Lengthen

These grips enable you to shorten or lengthen a segment of a pipe run.

The direction of the pipe run being lengthened or shortened remains the same whether it is connected to another pressure pipe, fitting or ancillary.

Intersection point: Deflection

These grips enable you to change the angle at an intersection point in a pipe run. The angle is measured from the centerline of the pipe run segment. When this grip is selected you can move the pipe run or enter an angle of deflection to apply. When moving in the direction of the pipe run, it will extend as it does with the Lengthen grips.

The following illustration shows a selected deflection grip and the visual cues of deflection the pipe can be moved.

Connected pipes in a pipe run will also move and adjust their intersection points to accommodate the new position.

Midpoint: Move

These grips enable you to move a pipe run segment to a new location. The direction and length of the pipe run remain the same.

Connected pipes in a pipe run will also move and adjust their intersection points to accommodate the new pipe run location.

Pipe Midpoint: Curve

These grips enable you to convert a selected straight pipe in a pressure network to a curved pipe.

The following illustration shows a selected radius grip and the visual cues of the curved pipe geometry as the radius is adjusted.

Connected pipes in a pipe run will also move and adjust their intersection points to accommodate the new curved pipe geometry.

Ancillaries: Level

This grip enables you to move ancillaries up and down (changing its level). Connected pipes move with the ancillaries.

Ancillaries: Slide

These grips enable you to move ancillaries along a pressure pipe. The selected ancillaries cannot move past another pressure network part.
