To Assign Feature Line Levels when Creating Feature Lines from Objects

When creating a feature line you can manually enter a level, or you can assign levels from a surface or from grading objects.

Tutorial Exercise: Creating Feature Lines

To assign feature line levels from a surface

  1. Click Home tabCreate Design panelFeature Line drop-downCreate Feature Lines From Objects Find.
  2. In the Create Feature Lines dialog box, select the Assign Levels check box and click OK.
  3. In the Assign Levels dialog box, select the From Surface option.
Note: If there are no surfaces in the drawing, the From Surface option is unavailable.
  4. Select a surface from the list or click the arrow icon to select it in the drawing.
  5. Select the Insert Intermediate Gradient Break Points check box to insert intermediate gradient breaks where the element crosses surface Triangulation lines. Additional level points are created at these locations.
  6. If you want the feature line to remain relative to the surface, select the Relative Level to Surface check box and optionally enter a positive or negative offset value in the edit box. For more information, see About Relative Feature Lines.

To manually assign feature line levels

  1. Click Home tabCreate Design panelFeature Line drop-downCreate Feature Lines From Objects Find.
  2. In the Create Feature Lines dialog box, select the Assign Levels check box and click OK.
  3. In the Assign Levels dialog box, enter a level in the edit box select the Level option and click OK. If the object is a 3D polyline with varying levels, the first point is set to the specified level and the rest of the points are raised/lowered by the same relative amount so that the level differences between the points remain.
