The MCG LookAt Constraint controls an object's orientation so that one axis points at another object, or the weighted average of other objects. Use this instead of the LookAt constraint for a slightly different set of controls, including a billboard option that restricts the rotation to a single world axis.
Interface
- [target list]
- Shows the targets and their relative weights.
-
Add Target
- Click to select additional targets.
-
Remove Target
- Select an object in the list, and then click this button to remove it.
-
Weights
- To adjust the relative weight of a target:
- Select the target in the list.
- Adjust the numeric weight value.
- Click
Set.
To animate the weights, use
Auto Key.
-
Rotation Offset
- Offsets the rotation from the weighted average of the targets by the specified amounts in each axis.
-
Reset
- Removes the offset, that is, sets each axis to 0.0.
-
Adjust
- Allows you to set the offset by rotating the object interactively in the viewport.
-
Billboard Mode
- Restricts the object's rotation to a single world axis. This is useful for orientating things like sprites that are being used for trees so that they face the camera but still point up.
When you activate this option,
LookAt Axis changes to
Billboard Axis and lets you select a world axis. The other alignment controls become unavailable.
-
LookAt Axis
- The local axis used to point at the target.
-
Upnode Settings
- Controls the object's roll around the LookAt axis. You can either align with the world or use the
Upnode button to select an object in the scene.
-

Axis aligned to Upnode at the selected upnode.
-
