Region Keys Tool

The Region Keys tool makes it easy to move and scale groups of keys in Curve Editor.

To use Region Keys, first highlight tracks to edit, then drag out a region in the Key window: This selects all keys of highlighted tracks within the width of the drag. Then, to move the keys, drag inside the region, or to scale them, drag a handle on the region border.

Procedure

To use the Region Keys tool:

  1. In the Hierarchy window of Track View - Curve Editor, highlight one or more tracks that contain animation keys. Then, optionally, in the Key window highlight two or more keys belonging to those tracks.
  2. On the Key Controls toolbar, click (Region Keys Tool).

If keys are already highlighted, the region is automatically drawn around those keys, and you can proceed to step 4. If not, proceed to step 3.

  3. In the Key window, drag any horizontal region that contains keys. The vertical position of the mouse doesn't matter: The region automatically resizes to encompass all keys of highlighted tracks within the horizontal drag distance.
  4. After you create the region, the following operations are available:
    • To scale the keys, drag one of the handles protruding from the region border. Dragging a horizontal handle scales the keys' timing, and dragging a vertical handle scales the keys' values. As you drag, the scaling percentage appears next to the cursor.

By default, the center of scaling is the side of the region opposite the handle you drag. To scale about the region center, hold down Shift before dragging.

Note: If you move or expand the region to encompass keys that were originally outside the region, those keys are not automatically added to the region.
    • To move the keys, drag anywhere inside the region.
    • To change the key selection within the current horizontal extents, highlight different tracks in the Hierarchy window. The region automatically redraws to encompass those tracks' keys.
    • To change the region, start dragging a new region outside the current region.
    • To exit the Region Keys tool, activate another tool such as Move Keys.
