Creates textures using text.
Set outline and fill colors as well as map boundaries and alpha. Control over hierarchies allows you to achieve creative results, and all adjustments can be animated.
Procedures
To create a texture from text:
- Open the Material Editor, choose a material and apply Text Map to it.
- Apply the material to an object in your scene.
- From the Command panel, create a TextPlus object.
- On the Parameters rollout, set filtering, channel outputs, cropping/placement, and alpha source options.
- On the Text Parameters rollout, click the Text Object button and select the TextPlus object to be used as a texture.
- Select the characters to display: Glyphs Only (letter and numbers), Extras Only (underlines, strikethroughs, superscript, and subscript) or Glyphs + Extras.
- Select to render fills and outlines, and whether to use a strict hierarchy from the Scene Explorer.
- Select a fill color, line color, and background color for the text, and the width of outline.
Note: If no fill or line color is selected, the color of the TextPlus object is used.
- Select to render any children.
- Select a map boundary.
- If necessary, adjust HW Bitmap size to fix edge sharpness problems that occur when rendering.
You can add additional text to the texture by dragging other TextPlus objects under the parent in the Scene Explorer.
