The mParticles Solvent operator can remove bindings created by the mParticles Glue test, with different filtering imposed by mParticles Glue IDs, timing, a Boolean data channel and simple icon geometry. To use, use any test to direct bound particles into an event that contains the mParticles Solvent operator.
The operator has an associated icon that comes into play when you enable the Limit Solvent By Icon option.
Interface
- Binding Type To Break
- Choose the types of bindings to remove. mParticles Glue can generate different types of bindings, as defined in the To Bind With group. You can toggle removal of bindings between particles (Particles To Particles), between particles and deflectors (Particles To Deflectors), and between particles and the ground (Particles To Ground).
For videos showing the effects of the Binding Type To Break options, see Binding Type To Break.
- Limit Solvent By List
- Lets you dissolve bonds created by specific mParticles Glue tests in the flow. After enabling this option, click Add By List and use the list dialog to choose tests to dissolve.
To remove an mParticles Glue test from the list, highlight it and click Remove.
- Limit Solvent By Time
- Dissolves bonds only within the specified frame range (in absolute terms). After enabling, set the frame range with the Start and Stop parameters.
- Limit Solvent By Data
- Allows you to define a Boolean data channel to be used as a guide for dissolving bindings. If a data value for a particle is True, then all bindings for the particle will be dissolved. Click the Data Channel button to choose an Output New suboperator with a Boolean payload.
- Limit Solvent By Icon
- Use this option to dissolve bindings with respect to the position of the operator icon. Set the icon shape to Box, Rectangle, Sphere, and then set the size. With the Box and Sphere shapes, the icon can work either as a knife (Slice mode), or as a dissolving container (Volume mode), depending on the Mode setting. The Rectangle icon shape always works in Slice mode.
In Slice mode, the operator dissolves bonds between particle pairs on either side of the visible icon (for example, if one bound particle is inside the sphere volume and the other is outside). In Volume mode, the operator dissolves only bonds inside the icon.
Tip: You can modify the icon shape by using a standard Scale transform on the operator's icon.
For videos showing the effects of the Limit Solvent By Icon option, see Limit Solvent By Icon.
- Color Coordinated
- When on, the mParticles Solvent operator icon uses the same color as the Display operator in the event.
