FAQ: How are Advance Steel objects removed from a DWG file?

If you open and save an AutoCAD DWG file with Advance Steel, you might want to remove the Advance Steel objects that were saved with this DWG file.

To remove the Advance Steel objects, perform the following steps:

1. Open Advance Steel.
2. On the ribbon, click .
   • Tools Tools (Delete all AS objects from external drawings)
3. In the Remove Advance from External DWG dialog, browse to the folder containing the drawing from which you want the Advance Steel objects to be removed, and select the respective DWG file.
4. In the same dialog, select a backup directory - this will be used to store the drawing in the state prior to applying the command.
5. Close Advance Steel.
6. Open plain AutoCAD without opening any drawing.
7. In the command line, type demandload & set the value to 0 (zero). Normally the value is 3.
8. Open the drawing from which the Advance Steel objects were removed and save it.
9. Exit AutoCAD.
10. Re-open AutoCAD without opening any drawing.
11. In the command line, type demandload and set the value to 3.
12. Open the previous drawing. It will be opened without the Advance Steel objects.

Your drawing will no longer contain Advance Steel objects and can be opened in plain AutoCAD.
