Export for modeling

You can export sub-d, surface, and curve objects from Create VR to Alias or other content creation applications that support the FBX file format, such as Autodesk Maya and Autodesk 3ds Max.

  1. In Create VR, open the menu.

  2. Select the Import/Export icon in the top menu bar, then select Export FBX .

The scene is saved as an FBX file in the CreateVR\Exports directory.

  3. Import your file into your application of choice. In Alias, choose File > Import > .

  4. In the File Import Options window, select FBX.

  5. Click Import and browse to the CreateVR\Exports directory to locate the file to import. For example C:\Users\Documents\CreateVR\Exports.

    Note:

Create VR FBX files are automatically named using the date and time the file was saved.

If you import multiple Create VR objects in the same FBX file, all objects get added to the same layer and root node in Alias. To transform the objects individually, move the objects to new layers. See Organize objects on layers.

Exported materials from Create VR are named with their HEX colours, and they can be adjusted further after exporting.
