Save, import, export, and reset preferences

Save your preferences (including hotkeys, shelves, marking menus, and so on) in a file, or load some or all of the preferences from a saved file.

  1. Set up your menus, shelves, hotkeys, etc, the way you want them.

Share Preferences

Set up your preferences so that multiple users can access the same shelf sets and workspaces from a shared location.

  1. Choose Preferences > General Preferences > System.

  2. In the Shared Preference Location box, enter the location of the shared preferences.

Alias creates a Preference_Sets, shelves, and workspaces subfolder in the specified folder. The folder hierarchy mimics that of the UserPrefs2020 folder. The shelves and workspaces subfolder are required as a minimum. The shelves subfolder must have the provided subfolders, such as Default_Shelves.

  3. Copy the preference files you want to share from the default location under UserPrefs2020, maintaining the same folder structure.

The shared preferences appear on the Preferences menu to the right of the prompt line.

Use Shared Preferences

  1. Choose Preferences > General Preferences > System.

  2. In the Shared Preference Location box, enter the location of the shared preferences.

The shared preferences appear on the Preferences menu to the right of the prompt line.

  3. Select the preferences

Reset your preferences to the ones in place when you launched the current session of Alias or to the factory defaults.

  3. Click the Apply Resets button at the bottom of the window.
