When vertical AEC dimensions are rotated greater than 90 degrees, the dimension text flips sides. In some cases, when dimensions are part of a series of dimensions this is an undesired result.
Using the Text Flip grip addresses this issue by swapping the settings of vertical text position and reading direction so that the dimension displays correctly. In detail, these are the changes that are made:
- The vertical text setting defined in the AutoCAD dimension style will be overridden, and be set to the Below setting.
- The reading direction will be swapped from left-to-right to right-to-left or vice versa.
- Any dimension texts that have a positional override will flip in place around their location point.
Note: You can also perform these changes in the underlying AutoCAD dimension style. This will however, affect all AEC dimensions of that style, whether they are rotated or not. In most cases an override on a specific dimension will work better.
- Select the rotated dimension.
- Click the Flip text to opposite side of dimension grip
