To Work with DGN Mapping Setups

You can create, modify, rename, or delete mapping translations to control how properties are translated between DGN and DWG files.

Create a DGN Mapping Setup

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING. The DGN Mapping Setups dialog box displays.
  2. Click New. The New Mapping Setup dialog box is displayed.
  3. Under New DGN mapping setup name, enter a mapping setup name.
  4. Under Based On, select an existing mapping setup.
  5. Select a mapping type.
  6. Click Continue. The Modify DGN Mapping Setup dialog box displays.
  7. Select each tab, inspect the property mappings, and edit them if necessary.

Modify a DGN Mapping Setup

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING.
  2. In the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to modify.
    Note: You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
  3. Click Modify. The Modify DGN Mapping Setup dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the tab containing the property mapping to change.
  5. Locate the row corresponding to the property mapping and make the required change.

Delete a DGN Mapping Setup

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING.
  2. In the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to delete.
    Note: You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. When the Delete Mapping Setup prompt is displayed, click Yes.

Rename a DGN Mapping Setup

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING.
  2. In the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to rename.
    Note: You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
  3. Click Rename.
  4. Enter new mapping setup name.
  5. Click anywhere outside the text box.

Add Properties from a DWG File

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING.
  2. In the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to modify.
    Note: You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
  3. In the Modify DGN Mapping Setup dialog box, click Add Properties from Drawing File. The Add Properties from Drawing File dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select a drawing file and click Open.

    The unique properties of the file are added to the bottom of the DWG column for each tab.

Add Properties from a DGN File

  1. At the Command prompt, enter DGNMAPPING.
  2. In the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to modify.
    Note: You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
  3. In the Modify DGN Mapping Setup dialog box, click Add Properties from DGN File button.
  4. The Add Properties from DGN File dialog box is displayed. Select a DGN file and click Open.

    The unique properties of the file are added to the bottom of the DGN column for each tab.
