To Save a Block as a Drawing File

  1. Select a block in your current drawing.
  2. Click Insert tabBlock Definition panelWrite Block. Find At the Command prompt, enter wblock.

Also, the Write Block tool is available from the same drop-down as the Create Block tool.

  3. In the Write Block dialog box, the Block option is already selected, so under Destination, enter a path and file name for the new drawing, or click the [...] button to display a standard file selection dialog box.
  4. Click OK.

A new drawing is created from the objects in the selected block.

Note: If you start Write Block without first selecting a block, click the Block option in the Write Block dialog box, and select the desired block from the drop-down list.
