About Installing and Licensing

The product can be installed from the Desktop installer or as an online deployment.

The following table lists some of the advantages and disadvantages of the different installation methods available.

Installation Method Description

Desktop Installer

    Pros

  • Install can be tailored for each user’s needs
  • Each user is assigned a separate license; works well for users that need to work in remote locations

    Cons

  • Custom settings and files must be applied individually to each install

Online Deployment

    Pros

  • All installs are identical for each user
  • Custom settings and files can be applied as part of the deployment
  • Each user is assigned a separate license; works well for users that need to work in remote locations
  • Installs can be performed using Group Policies

    Cons

  • Installs cannot be tailored for each user, unless features are removed after the install has been completed

Once installed, the product must be activated within 30 days of its first use.

Note: You have 30 days to remove any previous releases of the product after installing an upgraded version under the terms and agreement of the latest release unless you are on the Autodesk Subscription program.
