To Work With Xdata on AutoCAD Electrical Toolset Components

For some functions AutoCAD Electrical toolset adds invisible information to a block insert or even to a specific attribute. This invisible data is called Xdata. To add or modify this invisible data, AutoCAD Electrical toolset provides an Xdata editor. You can also change the Xdata on a block to a block attribute.

Edit Existing Xdata

  1. Click Project tabOther Tools panelXdata Editor. Find
  2. Select an attribute in the drawing.
  3. If Xdata exists for the attribute, select the Xdata to edit from the list in the dialog box.

    The existing name and value are shown in the edit boxes allowing you to edit them.

  4. Edit the name and value as needed. Once you click out of the edit box, the name, or value are updated in the list.
  5. Click Save Changes to update the selected block or attribute with the Xdata changes.

Add Xdata

  1. Click Project tabOther Tools panelXdata Editor. Find
  2. Select a block in the drawing.
    Note: Enter A and select an attribute to add xdata to a specific attribute on the block.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. Enter the application name for the Xdata and its value. Click OK.
  5. Click Save Changes to update the selected block or attribute with the Xdata changes.

Change Block Xdata to a Block Attribute

  1. Click Panel tabOther Tools panel Panel Configuration drop-down Make Xdata Visible. Find.
  2. Select a block.
  3. For each Xdata you want to change to an attribute:
    • Select the Xdata to change.
    • Define the height, justification, and visibility for the attribute.
    • Click Insert.
    • Select the insertion point.
      Note: The attribute is added to this instance of the block only.
  4. Click Done.
