The Mouse

Most people use a mouse as their pointing device, but the track pad or other devices have equivalent controls. The track pad and Magic Mouse both support gestures.

Select an object or user interface option.

Right-click to display shortcut menus
Tip: When you look for an option, try right-clicking. Depending on where you locate your cursor, different menus will display relevant commands and options.

Pan the drawing view

Zoom in or out.

Tip: When you zoom in or out, the location of the cursor is important. Think of your cursor as a magnifying glass. For example, if you position the cursor in the upper-right area of the floor plan as shown below, zooming in magnifies the dressing room without shifting the view.

You can step back through a number of previous views by entering ZOOM in the Command window and then specify the Previous option.

Note: To specify a command line option, enter the capitalized letter or letters. You can enter uppercase or lowercase letters.

A fast way to do this is by entering a command alias for the command. For example, the command alias for ZOOM is Z.

  1. Type Z in the Command window and press the Spacebar or Enter.
  2. Then type P and press the Spacebar or Enter.

The previous view displays.

The other commonly used options in the ZOOM command are Window and Extents. The Window option enables you to specify a rectangular window of the area that you want to display. The Extents option displays all of the objects in the drawing area.
