Custom data is a unique, user-defined parameter that you use to customize your parts. Custom data can be helpful if you want to expand scheduling data for a part, or access additional values to use in engineering calculations.
Before adding custom data, you must determine the storage type in which to store the custom data, depending on the uniqueness of the data.
If the custom data… | then add the custom data to the… |
---|---|
is a value that varies with other part size parameters, such as the material | basic table storage type. |
is a list of values for the part, such as size dimensions | constant lists storage type. |
is a single value that remains constant for all part sizes, such as the manufacturer | constants storage type. |
is a calculated value for all part sizes, such as size dimensions dependent on other constant dimensions | calculations storage type. |
For more information about storage types, see Understanding Part Sizes.
To add custom data to a part in Catalog Editor
The software inserts a new custom data column to the left of the selected cell.
The software validates the new part and regenerates the catalog.
