Predefined Dimension Text Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use this dialog box to customize predefined dimension text templates for use with the AMPOWERDIM command and its variants.

Text editor

Shows a graphical representation of the dimension text currently selected from the list of predefined text strings. Place the cursor in the text editor to add or delete text.

 

Right-click menu options

Enables you to specify formatting for the selected segment of text. The formatting options are:

  • Underline - Toggles underlining for the selected text.
  • Overline - Toggles overlining for the selected text.
  • Alignment - Specifies how the selected text aligns to stacked text on the same line.
  • Stacked- Stacks two segments of text separated by a “/” character.
  • Text Color - Specifies a color for the selected text.
  • Text Height - Applies a scale factor for the selected text.
  • Text Font - Specifies a font for the selected text.
  • Text Width - Applies a scale factor for the width of the selected text.
  • Tracking Factor - Specifies the spacing between characters of the selected text.
 

Insert special characters

Displays a palette of special characters available for insertion at the cursor position in the Text editor.

 

Preview Mode

Selects the dimension text in the Text editor.

  • Plain Text - Displays variables and formatting signs that define the dimension text.
  • Rendered Text Colored - Renders all variables and formatting signs to preview the dimension text.
  • Rendered Text Mono - Displays monochromatically the same text as the Rendered Text Colored mode.
Tip: Use the Plain Text mode especially if you are inserting variables. It gives you more control over where to place variables. Use a rendered mode for a preview of the dimension text.

Predefined text list

Displays a list of predefined dimension text templates available for the AMPOWERDIM command and its variants.
 

Add

Adds the text in the Text editor to the list of predefined text strings.

 

Remove

Deletes the text that is selected in the Predefined text list.
