Using AMSCOPYDEF, you can:

Available command options depend on how you start AMSCOPYDEF. All options are available when you start AMSCOPYDEF from the command line.

You copy the definitions of folders or component views, including standard part component views and standard features. You cannot copy the definitions of annotation views, detail views created with AMDETAIL, or component views contained within detail views and annotation views.

Select a folder or component view instance
Specifies the folder, component, or component view to save the definition of.
Copy definition of Component/View
Specifies whether the command saves the entire component or only the component view definition.
Copy component definition
Specifies a name for the saved component definition. Specify a unique name. By default, the copy name is prefixed with “Copy of.” After you Enter a unique name, the mechanical browser updates.
Copy component view definition
Specifies a name for the saved component view definition. The copy continues to be a component view of the component it was originally a child of.
Copy standard part definition
Specifies a name for the saved component definition. Specify a unique name. Additionally:
  • The standard part component is changed to a normal (user-defined) part component.
  • All instanced views of a selected standard content are changed to normal (user-defined) component views.
  • The BOM data is maintained from the standard content component.
Copy standard part view definition
Specifies a name for the saved component view definition. The copy continues to be a component view of the standard content it was originally a child of.
