To Create a Hide Situation (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

  1. Click Home tabDetail panelHide Situation drop-downCreate. Find
  2. Click in the graphics window to select foreground objects.
    • To select a component view or folder for the foreground, continue clicking an item that belongs to the component view or folder until you see its name in the tooltip window.
    • To select a free entity (a line, an arc, a circle, and so on), continue clicking the object until you see its name in the tooltip.
    • To select a block instance, click a geometry that belongs to it.

    Selection information is displayed on the command line. Continue to select objects, and then press ENTER to quit.

    When foreground objects are selected, objects that are partially or totally within a bounding box surrounding the foreground objects are automatically added to the background selection set. If the number of background objects is too high, you are prompted to select the background manually in the Hide Situation dialog box.

  3. If you are creating the hide situation for a mechanical structure drawing: (If the Hide Situation dialog box is collapsed, Click )
    1. In the Name box, type a name to identify the hide situation.
      Note:

      If you name the hide situations meaningfully, it is easier to pick out the hide situation from the browser later.

    2. In the Store hide situation on list, select the most appropriate position in the mechanical structure to store the hide situation.
  4. Click OK.
