When you select the drafting standard, the default settings for balloons change to match that drafting standard.
If necessary, you can customize these settings to suit your drafting requirements. The following configuration operations are available:
For any selected drafting standard, the system supports several balloon types that comply with it. It selects one automatically as the default balloon type. You can change the default balloon type.
AutoCAD Mechanical toolset enables you to select a size factor for balloons. It calculates the balloon size by multiplying the balloon text height by the size factor.
Because text and leader lines are the most common objects used for annotations, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides a single configuration point (the Standard Settings dialog box) enabling you to specify their default properties. These settings are the master settings.
In the Balloon Settings dialog box, the text and leader settings default to “By NameOfCurrentDraftingStandard.” If you modify the master settings, balloons update automatically. If you do not want balloons to follow the master settings, select a specific setting.
Although it is customary to display the item number in balloons, you can display the value of any component property, including the results of a complex formula, in a balloon.
Select the vertical and horizontal distance between balloons. The system uses this setting when it aligns balloons.
During a drawing session, you can override most settings made at configuration time. If you change a balloon setting during a drawing session, the changes apply to all balloons except ones for which you override that setting (the program retains overrides).
