Open in Desktop

If you're working in the AutoCAD web app and your computer has AutoCAD 2018 or later installed, you can use the Open in Desktop button to open a drawing in desktop AutoCAD.

Your drawing is automatically saved and then opened in your locally installed version of AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT desktop.

Requirements

• AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT 2018 or later. Because the AutoCAD web app saves drawings to the AutoCAD 2018 file format, Open in Desktop is only supported if your installed version of AutoCAD is version 2018 or later.
• The Open in desktop plugin.

To use Open in Desktop, you first need to install an AutoCAD plug-in.

To install the plugin:

1. Click Open in Desktop. If the plugin is not yet installed, you will be prompted to download it.
2. Download the .msi file.
3. Go to the folder location of the file and double-click the file to install it.
