Images that are Not Editable

The following table lists the reasons why an image may not be editable and what you can do to make it editable.

If you want to edit the image, and the image is

locked

Have the other user close the drawing that contains the locked image. For more information, see Locking Method for Image Files.

Note: If the image file is still locked even after the other person closed the drawing, then close the drawing you are working on and reopen it. Or, you could erase the image from your drawing and then reinsert it.

on an AutoCAD layer that is locked, frozen, or invisible

Unlock, thaw, or turn on the layer that the image is on.

in a format that AutoCAD Raster Design toolset can only read

Save the image to a file format that AutoCAD Raster Design toolset can read and write. For more information, see Saving an Image to Another File Name, Type, or Location.

stored on a read-only device (for example, a CD-ROM)

Copy the image from the CD-ROM to a local or network drive you can write to.

in perspective view

Return the AutoCAD UCS to plan view.

a read only file

Set the status of the file to be read/write.
