Rail Lines Dialog Box

Specifies which rail lines are generated. Select Left Rail, Centerline, and/or Right Rail.

Required Lines

Specifies which rail lines are generated. Select Left Rail, Centerline, and/or Right Rail.

Object Type

Specifies the object type that is used for the generated rail lines. Select either 3D Polyline or Feature Line. Use 3D Polyline for quicker generation and performance.

When you select Feature Line, you can specify names for each generated rail line. Each rail line (Left, Centerline, and Right) receives a system-generated name. To edit the name template, click .

Alignment

Specifies the parent rail alignment from which to create the rail lines. Click to change the alignment.

Profile

Specifies the parent profile to use for the rail lines. Click to select a profile from the drawing.

Distance Between Rails

Specifies the distance between the left and right rail lines.

Station Range

Specifies the station range of the rail lines in relation to the parent alignment. Select From Start to generate the rail line from the parent alignment start station. Select To End to generate the rail line to the parent alignment end station.

You can also specify stations for the start and end points of the rail lines. Clear the From Start and/or To End options and then enter station values directly in the fields. Alternatively, you can click to select a station in the drawing.

Creation Method

Specifies the intervals or tolerance used for adding vertices along the rail lines.

Interval
Select Interval and click the Interval button to open the Interval Settings dialog box.
Tolerance
Select Tolerance and enter a tolerance value in the field. If you want to add additional vertices, click the Tolerance Settings button to open the Tolerance Settings dialog box. Vertices are created for all cant, horizontal and vertical critical geometry points, and user defined points, and sample line stations defined along the alignment. This guarantees that critical points on the alignment are always accurate. Once the vertices are placed, the distance between the parent alignment and the midpoint of each segment along the rail line is checked. If this distance falls outside the specified tolerance value, the rail line segment is split in half and both segments are rechecked.
