Cant Tabular Editor Dialog Box

View and edit cant data for each curve.

Note: Edits you make in the Superelevation Tabular Editor or the Superelevation View are dynamic. Changes made in one are reflected in the other.

For a description of the formulas that are used to calculate the values in this dialog box, see About Cant Variables and Formulas.

Collapses all items in the tree view.

Expands all items in the tree view.

Add A Cant Critical Station

Specifies a station along the alignment. Select a row in the editor and click , the tabular editor temporarily closes and the command line prompts you to pick a station along the alignment.

Remove a Cant Critical Station or Region

Deletes the selected region or station.

Undo

Recovers the most recently changed data in the Cant Tabular Editor.

This button affects:

  • changed value in a cell
  • calculation from the Cant Curve Manager or Calculate Cant wizard
  • addition or removal of a critical station
  • removal of a transition region
Redo

Recovers the data that was reverted using Undo in the Cant Tabular Editor.

This button affects:

  • changed value in a cell
  • calculation from the Cant Curve Manager or Calculate Cant wizard
  • addition or removal of a critical station
  • removal of a transition region
Clear All Cant Data
Removes all cant data, including data in cells, critical stations, and transition regions.

Columns

Cant Curve

This column displays the Transition In Regions and Transition Out Regions for the curves in the alignment.

Expand each region to view or edit the cant parameters.

To manually add a new critical station, right-click a region or a parameter Add Station.

Critical Stations include:

  • End Level Rail
  • Begin Full Cant
  • Begin Curve
  • End Full Cant
  • End Curve
  • Begin Level Rail
Start Station and End Station

Displays the start station and end station of each transition region. When you edit these fields for a Transition In Region, Transition Out Region, or a critical station, the Length field is updated. If the critical station you edit is the same as the Start Station or End Station of a Transition In Region or Transition In Region, that station value is also updated.

Length

Displays the length for the Transition In Region and the Transition Out Region.

Note: This value is read only.
Overlap

Displays the warning symbol for areas on the alignment where there is overlap. Click the , and a task dialog box is displayed showing the options to resolve overlap. The conditions are either a reverse curve situation or a compound curve situation. To automatically resolve overlap you can select the option on the Calculate Cant Wizard - Attainment Method Page. However, there can be situations where overlap is created by manually editing cant data.

Applied Cant

Specifies the applied cant value (in mm or in.) that was specified on the Calculate Cant Wizard - Attainment Method Page.

Equilibrium Cant

Specifies the result (in mm or in.) of the Equilibrium Cant calculation for a given speed and radius of curvature

Note: This value is read only.
Cant Deficiency

Specifies the difference (in mm or in.) between Equilibrium Cant and Applied Cant.

Cant Gradient

Specifies the cant gradient value (rise:run), which is the ratio between the difference in cant from the current critical station to the next critical station, and the length of the transition.

Vertical Speed

The speed (in m/s or ft/s) that is applied upward in a curve. This specifies the rate of change of applied cant at the maximum permissible speed of a vehicle passing over the transition curve.

Note: This value is read only.
Lateral Acceleration

The rate (in m/s^2 or ft/s^2) at which centrifugal force is applied outward from a curve.

Note: This value is read only.
