Data Source Manager Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to remove ArcGIS datasets from a drawing, refresh datasets from ArcGIS, and save back changes to ArcGIS.

ArcGIS Data Source

Lists the ArcGIS layers that exist in the drawing. When you click a layer in the list, its properties are displayed in the right panel.

To select a layer to remove it or to save back, select the check box next to the layer name.

Layer Detail

Displays information about the ArcGIS layers. Click a layer in the Data Source list to display its properties.

Feature Type
Displays the Civil 3D object type that is created from the ArcGIS layer.
Layer Name
Displays the name of the ArcGIS layer in the dataset.
Title
Displays the title of the ArcGIS dataset.
Imported Objects
Displays the number of Civil 3D objects created from the imported ArcGIS data.
Added Objects
Displays the number of Civil 3D objects that were added to the ArcGIS layer using the Move to ArcGIS Layer command.
Layer URL
Displays the URL of the dataset on ArcGIS. You can right-click the cell and select Copy Value to Clipboard to copy the URL so you can paste it into a browser.
Import Date
Displays the date the ArcGIS dataset was imported.

Remove

Removes the selected layers from the drawing.

Select the check boxes next to the layers that you want to remove and then click Remove.

Refresh

Refreshes the ArcGIS dataset in your drawing so that it matches the ArcGIS dataset online.

Select the check boxes next to the layers that you want to refresh and then click Refresh.

Save Back

Saves back the selected layers to ArcGIS. Select the check boxes next to the layers that you want to save back and then click Save Back.
Note: ArcGIS raster data can't be saved back to ArcGIS.
  • All objects in the selected dataset layer are saved back to ArcGIS, regardless of whether they were modified in Civil 3D or not.
  • Civil 3D objects that have been added to an ArcGIS layer are saved back to ArcGIS. You can add new objects to an ArcGIS layer by using the Move to ArcGIS Layer command.
  • Geometry and property set data is saved back to ArcGIS.

For more information, see To Save Back Datasets to ArcGIS.

Support for saving back changes to ArcGIS

Some object types that are created by importing an ArcGIS dataset cannot be saved back to the original ArcGIS layer. If you want to be able to save back changes later, you can assign the Civil 3D object types that support Save Back when you bring an ArcGIS dataset into a drawing.
