When using multi-axis positioning, you can set rotational axis limits for the document to prevent generating toolpaths with machine movements that your machine can not perform.
Note: You can also set the machine axis limits in the MD file. This does not affect the toolpath generation, but a warning is displayed if the limits are exceeded during simulation.
To set the index axis limits for the document:
- Right-click the stock in the
Part View and select
Properties.
- On the
Indexing tab of the
Stock Properties dialog, click
Index Axis Limits.
- Select how the rotational limits should be set:
-
Use machine design (.md) limits — Select this option to inherit the axis limits specified in the MD file.
-
Specify limits
— Specify the index axis limits directly for the document. Enter the
Min and
Max for the
Primary and
Secondary rotational axes.
-
Shortest Rotation — Select this option to ignore index axis limits and rotate the part in the direction that gives the shortest movement to get to the next position. This may result in movements that your machine can not perform.
- Click
OK to accept your changes and close the dialog.
