Offset creates a new line, arc or circle by offsetting it from an existing line or arc.
Select Construct tab > Geometry panel > Line menu > Offset to enter offset mode.
To offset an object by a specific distance:
- Enter the distance in the
Offset field.
- Select an existing line, arc or circle in the graphics window.
Tip: You can also select a line from the stock even though there is no line explicitly there.
- Move the cursor to the side of the selected object. A preview of the new object is displayed.
- Left-click to create the offset.
To offset an object in real time:
- Click and drag an object to the location you want the offset. A preview of the offset is displayed in the graphics window.
You can use
snapping to align the offset with existing geometry.
- Release the mouse button to create the offset.
When you have finished creating offsets,
exit the mode.
