Advanced Notification of Deprecation

Some Flame Family features are being retired, others are being sunset.

We are retiring from Flame Family products the following features:

Flame Family 2022.2 Update is the last version where they are still available. Future versions of Flame Family products will not allow tape device archive creation, or stereo 3D VTR capture and output.

We are also notifying you that the following features are being sunset:

When a feature is sunset, we no longer test or fix issues for the feature during our development cycles. You can expect such a feature to be retired sometime in the future.

Pre-2015 Projects Compatibility

Projects created before the 2015 version of Flame Family products use a file format that can no longer be supported. With the next major Flame Family release (2023), you will no longer be able to directly open projects created in versions preceding the 2015 version.

This change does not impact restoring archives: archives of projects created pre-2015 remain compatible with version 2023 of Flame Family products.

If you have a project that was created in a Flame Family product pre-2015 version, and you want to be able to open it in version 2023 (and later), do the following:

  1. Open the project in a recent version of Flame Family products, such as v2022

  2. When prompted, select the Convert option.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Save and close the software. This is enough to convert the project to the latest version.

    • Archive the project.

You'll then be able to open your project in version 2023 or restore the archive.
