MotionBuilder Installation and Licensing

This supplement provides links to standard Autodesk information, plus installation and licensing details that are specific to Autodesk MotionBuilder.

About MotionBuilder

Before installing MotionBuilder, verify that your system meets the minimum system requirements and your hardware meets the minimum requirements to run MotionBuilder. See MotionBuilder System Requirements and Certified Hardware.

You can install MotionBuilder on a single host or a network server. Earlier versions do not need to be uninstalled before a new version can be installed. You can have multiple versions of MotionBuilder installed simultaneously.

If you uninstall a previous version of MotionBuilder before installing a new version, the license type and product activation method may differ between the two versions, and you may need to reactivate the product.

MotionBuilder supports only one language: English.

The default installation paths for MotionBuilder are:
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MotionBuilder<Version>
  • Linux: /usr/autodesk/MotionBuilder<Version>
