FlangeDefinition.SetWidthOffsetWidthExtent Method

Parent Object: FlangeDefinition

Description

Method that overrides the width extent of the specified physical flange to define a flange whose width is defined relative to another entity.

Remarks

If the flange already exists you must roll back the model to the point just before the flange feature was created so that the edge exists in the model and can be used as input to this method.

Syntax

FlangeDefinition.SetWidthOffsetWidthExtent( Edge As Edge, Width As Variant, OffsetDistance As Variant, OffsetEntity As Object, PositiveDirection As Boolean )

Parameters

Name Type Description
Edge Edge The Edge that identifies which flange to set the width extent for. The creation of a single flange feature can result in many physical flanges being added to the part. Each edge specified for the flange feature wll result in a physical flange. The edge specified as input to this argument must be one of the edges that was specified as input to the flange feature and defines which physical flange to set the width extent for.
Width Variant Input Variant that defines the distance to use for the width extent of the flange. This can be either a numeric value or a string. A parameter for this value will be created and the supplied string or value is assigned to the parameter. If a value is input, the units are centimeters. If a string is input, the units can be specified as part of the string or it will default to the current length units of the document.
OffsetDistance Variant Input Variant that defines the distance of the flange from the offset entity. This can be either a numeric value or a string. A parameter for this value will be created and the supplied string or value is assigned to the parameter. If a value is input, the units are centimeters. If a string is input, the units can be specified as part of the string or it will default to the current length units of the document.
OffsetEntity Object Input Object that defines the entity the distance is measured relative to. This can be a point (WorkPoint or a Vertex object) or a plane (Face or WorkPlane object that is perpendicular to the selected edge).
PositiveDirection Boolean Input Boolean that specifies the side of the offset entity the flange is on.

Samples

Name Description
Edit width extent of an existing flange feature This sample demonstrates editing the width extent of an existing flange feature. This expects an existing sheet metal document that contains a flange feature that contains for physical flanges. It changes the type of width extent for each of the physical flanges. The result from the FlangeWidthsCreation sample can be used as the document to run this macro in.
Creating flange features Demonstrates creating flange features of various width extents. This creates a new document, creates a face feature and adds a flange feature on four edges.
