Reattach orphaned annotations

In an assembly, annotations can become detached in drawing views when you promote or demote a component in the browser structure or replace or delete components. Use Auto-Reattach Orphaned Annotations to preserve these feature-based annotations.

1. Change the Document Setting to preserve invalid annotations: Click Tools tab Options panel Document Settings .
2. On the Drawing tab, in the Invalid Annotations box,
   • Select the Highlight check box.
   • Select the Preserve Orphaned Annotations check box.
   • Click Feature-based Annotation Capture Color and select a color to identify the invalid annotations and then click OK.
   • Click OK to close the Document Settings dialog box.
3. In the drawing view, annotations to reconnect are shown in the highlight color. Select one or more annotations.ProdName reconnects annotations with valid attachment points.

   If the annotation cannot be reconnected, the Design Doctor opens and you can select one or more options for treatment.

Note: You can also right-click the Sheet folder in the browser and select Auto-Reattach Orphaned Annotations.
