O-Ring Generator dialog box - Pattern tab

Connect to the Content Center server and configure Content Center on your computer before you insert components using the O-Ring Generator.

See the Content Center Help, or About Configuration of Content Center Libraries to learn how to use the Content Center.

Access:

Ribbon: Design tab Power Transmission panel O-Ring and click the Pattern tab.

By default, No Pattern option is selected.

When you select an o-ring, the displayed options depend on the type of selected o-ring, axial or radial.

Apply and OK commands are grayed out. They become available when you specify the placement geometry and select a family with a valid o-ring member. At that point you can insert an o-ring into the assembly.

Radial o-rings

Specifies the type of pattern for the o-ring placement.

Axial

Select to specify the axial pattern placement.

No Pattern

No pattern is selected in the assembly.

Axial

Aligns selected features in the direction defined by a selected edge, axis, or path.

Flip Reverses direction of occurrences. When midplane is selected and the occurrence count is even, indicates which side gets the extra occurrence.

Count Specifies the number of occurrences in the column or linear path. Must be greater than zero.

Length Specifies spacing or distance between occurrences or distance the Direction 1 column spans. Must be greater than zero.

Axial o-rings

Specifies the type of pattern for the o-ring placement.

Rectangular

Duplicates one or more features and arranges the resulting occurrences by a specific count and spacing in a rectangular pattern or along a linear or nonlinear path in one or both directions. Rows and columns can be lines, arc, splines, or trimmed ellipses.

In an assembly, only sketched assembly features can be patterned, including their dependent fillets and chamfers.

Circular

Duplicates one or more features and arranges the resulting occurrences by a specific count and spacing in an arc or circle. All occurrences of a feature in a pattern are one feature, but individual occurrences are listed under the pattern feature icon in the browser. You can suppress or restore all occurrences or individual occurrences.

In an assembly, only sketched assembly features can be patterned, including their dependent fillets and chamfers.

Follow Pattern

Available only when you selected the Circular placement option, and you select the first occurrence of the pattern within the graphics window.

Click Flip to flip an orientation of an o-ring.

No Pattern

No pattern is selected in the assembly.

Column, Row, Circular

Rotation axis Specifies the axis (pivot point of angle) about which occurrences are repeated. The axis can be on a different plane from the feature being patterned.

Flip Reverses direction of the pattern. When Midplane is selected and the occurrence count is even, flip indicates which side gets the extra occurrence.

Count Specifies the number of occurrences in the pattern.

Count Specifies the number of occurrences in the column or linear path. Must be greater than zero.

Count Specifies the number of occurrences in the column or linear path. Must be greater than zero.

Angle Angular spacing between occurrences depends on the positioning method. If you select Incremental positioning, the angle specifies the angular spacing between occurrences. If you choose Fitted positioning, the angle specifies the total area the pattern occupies.
