This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.
Sample Data:
- Torque: T = 20-lb ft
- Major Diameter D = 2.4 in
- Joint Length L = 5.5 in
- Material: steel grade 60
|
- Start the Cone Joint Calculator.
- On the Calculation tab:
- In the Loads area, enter Torque = 20.
- In the Dimensions area, select the D, L, Taper Ratio d option and enter Major Diameter = 2.4 and Joint Length = 5.5.
- In the Joint Properties area, click the button next to the Material edit field, and select the material and type of loading from the database. Enter Clamping Factor = 0.08.
- Click Calculate to perform a cone joint strength check. The optimum hub length is based on minimum hub length, joint strength, pressure values, and axial force in bolts.
- Click OK to insert cone joint calculation to the ProdName assembly.
