Create a harness assembly

You can create a cable and harness assembly by adding one or more harness subassemblies to an Autodesk Inventor assembly file. The assembly file can be empty or contain an assembly model. To begin, click the Cable and Harness command, and then specify a name and location for the harness subassembly.

  1. Open an assembly file, and then click Environments tab Begin panel Cable and Harness .
  2. In the Create Harness dialog, provide a unique name for the harness subassembly.
  3. Accept the default file location, or browse to or enter a different location for the file.
Note: The subassembly is saved to the location of the open (parent) assembly by default.
  4. Click OK.
Note: If a harness subassembly already exists at that level of the hierarchy, a new harness assembly is created at the same level.

The harness subassembly is added to the browser and the cable & harness tab appears on the ribbon. All cable and harness components are contained in this subassembly.
