You can calculate physical properties for a part or assembly to understand how differences in materials, analysis tolerances, and other values affect a model.
You can calculate physical properties for a part to understand how differences in materials, analysis tolerances, and other values affect a model.
- In the graphics window or the browser, select the component to analyze.
- Right-click, and then select iProperties.
- In the Properties dialog box, select the Physical tab, and then click Update.
Note:
- If an assembly includes virtual components and a virtual component has a volume or mass, the moments of inertia, surface area, and center of gravity of the assembly may not be accurate.
- The calculation of physical properties includes quantity overrides and cosmetic welds.
Tip:
- To maintain physical properties up to date when the model is saved, select the Update Physical Properties on Save option in the Application Options dialog box.
- On the ribbon, select Manage tab Update panel Update Mass to update the mass properties of the model without opening the Properties dialog box.
