To Insert Components or Open Generator or Calculator

The Design Accelerator provides a set of generators and calculators that create mechanically correct components automatically by entering simple or detailed mechanical attributes. For example, use the bolted connection generator to insert a bolted connection at once. Insert the bolted connection by offering to select the right parts, select holes, and assemble components together.

Insert components using Design Accelerator generators and calculators:

  1. Work within the assembly or weldment environment.
  2. On the ribbon, select the Design tab. The available generators and calculators commands display. Generators and calculators are grouped according to functional areas. For example, all welds are grouped.
  3. Save the assembly before working with a generator or calculator.

Open a generator or calculator:

  1. Select the desired command.
  2. Open a generator from the Design tab and open a calculator from the Calculation tab.
  3. On the Design tab, specify the placement options and select the type of components you want to insert.
  4. On the Calculation tab, enter the calculation values. For Bolted Connection Generator and for some calculators, the Fatigue Calculation is also available to specify values for fatigue calculation.
  5. To insert designed components and calculations to an Autodesk Inventor assembly, click OK.
Note: Only one generator or calculator can be open at a time. When one generator or calculator is opened and you want to open a new generator or calculator, the first is automatically closed.
