Use this dialog box to enter parameters for a polygon section in Shaft Component Generator.
Note: No edge features are available. Only Through hole is available for middle features.
- Access
- Ribbon: Design tab
Power Transmission panel Shaft. On the Design tab, on the Sections drop-down list, select Sections. On the toolbar, select Insert Polygon 
.
Dimensions
Edit polygon dimensions.
Unlock the edit field to enable automatic update of the value in case you change the shaft parameters that influence such value.
Note: Only parameters that require automatic update have the lock available.
- Name
- Displays the name of the parameter. The name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
- Size
- Select the Size field to insert a value.
Select Measure from the context menu to measure dimension in the Autodesk Inventor window.
Select List Parameters to display list with parameters. Select to select the parameter and insert the value to the Size edit field.
- Description
- Displays the description of the parameter. The name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
Inscribed
Check the box to insert user values for inscribed polygon dimensions.
Note: You cannot edit values that are dimmed. They are calculated automatically.

Displays schematic image of the polygon section.
