Use the Cone dialog box to enter parameters for cone in Shaft Component Generator.
- Access
- Ribbon: Design tab
Power Transmission panel Shaft. On the Design tab, select Sections in the Sections drop-down list. On the toolbar, select Insert Cone
- Dimensions
- Enables cone dimensions editing.
Unlock the edit field to enable automatic update of the value in case you change the shaft parameters that influence such value. For example, if you lock the First Diameter value, and you update the diameter of previous shaft section, the cone diameter value updates automatically.
Note: Only parameters that require automatic update have the lock available.
- Name
- Displays the name of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
- Size
- Select the Size field to insert a value, or select a value from the displayed list.
Select Measure from the context menu to measure dimension in the Autodesk Inventor window.
Select List Parameters to display list with parameters. Select to select the parameter and insert the value to the Size edit field.
Select Same as Previous from the context menu to enter the diameter value of the previous shaft section.
Select Connect to Previous from the context menu. Enter the diameter value of the previous shaft section, and connect the cone to the previous shaft section. The edit field is locked and value is automatically updated when you change the diameter of the previous shaft section.
Select Same as Next from the context menu to enter the diameter value of the next shaft section.
Select Connect to Next from the context menu. Enter the diameter value of the next shaft section, and connect the cone to the next shaft section. The edit field is locked and value is automatically updated when you change the diameter of the next shaft section.
Options available when accessing the Cone dialog box from inside the Shaft Bore dialog box:
Click Calculate from the context menu to automatically calculate a hollow through the length of the shaft (from a hollow on the left to a hollow on the right).
Click Values from the context menu to see the list of recommended and available dimensions.
Note: Displayed options in the context menu depend on the shape of the designed shaft. - Description
- Displays the description of the parameter. The name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
